UnCabaret is thrilled to present rising star and recent addition to the UnCabaret family, singer/comedian/violinist Chris Woods (Conan O'Brien, The Tonight Showwith Jay Leno,  American Idol, The Voice - recorded with artists such a Will.I.Am and Justin Timbalake). And in this case when we say One Night Only, we mean it literally. Every one of his energy raising, electrifying, inspiring performances is a unique night of musical comedy. Chris is a virtuoso violinist, and an exceptional singer whose love for creative invention is matched only by his persistent goal to help you laugh your way to liberation!
If you haven't seen Chris you are in for a special treat, and if you HAVE seen him you're also in for a treat because no two shows are the same! Pure, unadulterated joy is his specialty, but beware: once he gets going, ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN!
Chris promises, “This will be a night you will truly remember!” He will be bringing along some of his own handpicked special guests including his loved ones! So bring your loved ones and come celebrate this mysterious experience we call life with a Triple Threat, or as he thinks of it, a Triple Treat, of comedy, music and soul.

Chris Woods!

UnCabaret was recently named one of the Best Comedy Shows in LA by Los Angeles Magazine. Groundbreaking and star making since 1988, UnCabaret is known for its unleashed story telling style and one of a kind nights filled with exceptional talent. It’s been seen on Comedy Central and Amazon, heard on NPR. "Liberating" Entertainment Weekly. "Seminal" New York Times. "The Mother Show of alternative comedy." LA Weekly.
First and Hope is an intimate, elegant room where magic can happen. Dinners are available in the restaurant before the show, light food and drinks at cabaret tables during.
UnCabaret is a hotbed of personal comedic storytelling, fostering the careers of iconoclastic comedy stars like Kathy Griffin, Julia Sweeney, Margaret Cho, Greg Behrendt, Laura Kightlinger, Mike McDonald, Bob Odenkirk, David Cross, Janeane Garofalo, Andy Kindler, Jeff Garlin, Andy Dick, Dana Gould, Patton Oswalt, Scott Thompson and Taylor Negron. UnCabaret is where award winning comedy writers like Judd Apatow, John Riggi, Michael Patrick King and Larry Charles have come to connect directly with audiences.  Where luminaries like Jon Stewart, Sarah Silverman, Roseanne Barr, Sandra Bernhard, Carrie Fisher and Bill Maher have popped in to try their hand at this comedy freestyling.
After a bit of a breather, UnCabaret returns! And is celebrating it's second Annversary of Sundays at First and Hope.
The new UnCabaret has found a perfect home at the intimate, chic, luxurious and yet somehow homey First & Hope. We've added more deeply talented performers of both the comedic and musical variety, among them Rob Delaney, Tig Notaro, Natasha Leggero, Jill Sobule, Dweezil Zappa, Drew Droege, Sam Pancake, Jen Kirkman, Garfunkel and Oates, Casey Wilson, Jennifer Cooliidge, Moshe Kasher, Miss Coco Peru, Alec Mapa, Del Shores, Rebecca Corry, Cheri Oteri, Allee Willis, Lisa Loeb, Jane Adams, Eddie Pepitone, Marc Maron, Rae Dawn Chong, Pete Holmes, Rory Scovel, Xander Smith, Ruby Freidman, Timor and The Dime Museum and Kelly Mantle.
One big change in the new UnCabaret: Mitch Kaplan has come on board as producer and musical director. Mitch is an award-winning singer, songwriter and pianist who has worked as a producer, songwriter, and musical director with such iconic luminaries as Sandra Bernhard, Ana Gasteyer and Cady Huffman. His songs have been recorded by artists such as Chaka Khan, Thelma Houston, Sister Sledge and Martika. Mitch and Beth began working together on music for "100% Happy 88% of the Time" and are excited about expanding their mix of comedy and music into UnCabaret.
Over its 25-year history, UnCabaret has been produced for Amazon Instant Video, as a Comedy Central Special, a daily radio show on Comedy World Radio, a podcast on audible.com and three CDs. In Los Angeles the show has had extended runs at Luna Park, Knitting Factory, HBO Workspace, MBar and The Skirball Cultural Center as well as being presented by the HBO Comedy Arts Festival, The Getty Center, Lollapalooza, and colleges and theaters nationally. UnCabaret birthed offshoot shows "Say The Word" and "The Other Network" and is the subject of a documentary in the making by "Little Miss Sunshine" directors Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris.
UnCabaret UnStaged is our Podcast. Listen in iTunes, on Stitcher or on the website. Beth asks guests the unanswerable but provocatve question: what makes you you? Then Mitch sings them their own special theme song. Season One Guests include Lili Taylor, Daniel Radcliffe, John Riggi, Rebecca Corry, Ana Gasteyer, The Sklar Brothers, Justin Willman, Brooke Smith, Del Shores and Merrill Markoe.

Four epsiodes of UnCabaret on Amazon Instant Video! Featuring Tig Notaro, Jen Kirkman, Alec Mapa, Margaret Cho, Sandra Bernhard, Greg Behrendt, Greg Proops, Garfunkle and Oates, Tayor Negron etc...
